Pony Pal nursery school visits are a wonderful way of allowing the children to achieve skills through working with the pony and adhering to the National Curriculum. We can work with colours and numbers by selecting ribbons to decorate the mane, team building and sharing. We also learn the anatomy through the use of sticky labels on the pony.
The children can enjoy grooming the pony and learn how to work around an animal. They can also take turns to lead the pony through an obstacle course, leading him through cones, over jumps and along a balance bar.
The pony is able to enter the nursery school, they are fully insured to do so, they wear shoes to prevent damage to the floor and a nappy bag.
We can work in small groups of 4-6 children in sessions throughout the hour visit or work as one big group. Our ponies/donkey/unicorn are all trained to walk beside wheelchairs/walking aids so this activity is fully inclusive for everyone.
